5 Questions with Caitlin Bernard

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Caitlin Bernard will be a redshirt sophomore for the Hoosiers in the 2017-18 season and is majoring in Communications at Indiana.
Q: How did you get started playing tennis?
A: My dad introduced me to tennis when I was about 4 or 5. He's my biggest inspiration in life so I naturally wanted to play for him.
Q: Why did you choose for come to Indiana University and what makes IU and the tennis program special?
A: I chose Indiana because of the amazing athletic facilities, I loved everything about it. Our program is such a close-knit group I honestly couldn't ask for better people to be surrounded by on a daily basis. It makes it such a special experience.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Bloomington?
A: I love everything about Bloomington, it's such a cool town with a lot to do. It's very different from where I grew up, in Massachusetts, so it's neat to have both.
Q: What are you looking forward to about next year?
A: I'm really excited to see what we can do as a team next year. I know we have the capability to do great things. Also, I'm looking forward to competing. I love playing matches.
Q: How would you describe yourself?
A: People usually refer to me as a hard worker. I would say I'm a fighter, especially since being injured and coming back from that.
