Harper, Kong and Parsons Named Big Ten Women’s Golf Preseason Honorees

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Indiana Women's Golfers senior Alix Kong, junior Erin Harper and freshman Mary Parsons have been selected as Big Ten Preseason Honorees, announced by the league on Wednesday.
Kong and Harper are the top two returning stroke average leaders from the 2016-17 season while Parsons will make her debut this fall.
Harper, who led Indiana with a 75.00 average last season, where she posted two top-five finishes in 2016-17. She led the Hoosiers at the Big Ten Championships last spring where she finished T-25th overall. She also collected a third-place finish at the Lady Buckeye Invitational and a fourth-place finish at the IU Invitational.
Kong is set for her senior season after finishing third on the team with a 75.38 stroke average in 2016-17. She was the individual medalist at the IU Invitational and had three top 11 finishes. The West Vancouver, B.C. native, shot a season-low 69 at the Clover Cup last spring and had two top 11 finishes to open the fall season.
Parsons, a native of Delta, British Columbia, recently competed in the USGA Women's Amateur event before arriving in Bloomington for the fall semester. She competed for St. Thomas More Collegiate High School where she finished as the runner-up at last year's AA Provincials and finished fifth overall in 2015. She member of the Team Canada's 2017 National Development squad and shot a career-low 66 (-10) to win the CN Future Links Pacific while also picking up medalist honors at the B.C. Junior Girls Championship and MJT Boston Pizza National Championship.
The Hoosiers kick off the 2017-18 season on Sept. 17-18 at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo.
