
IU Finishes ITA Kick-Off Weekend with Win over SMU

LOS ANGELES – The Indiana men's tennis team closed the ITA Kick-Off Weekend with a 4-0 win over the SMU Mustangs at Marks Stadium on the campus of USC.
The second and third spots at doubles led the way for IU (3-2) with 6-4 and 6-1 wins. At the top spot, seniors Raheel Manji and Keivon Tabrizi were up 4-3 before the Hoosiers secured the extra point.
Junior Antonio Cembellin added to his doubles win when he knocked off Tomas Vaise, 6-0, 6-2, at the second singles spot. Leading 3-0 after the Hoosiers grabbed a win off retirement, Los Angeles native sophomore Zac Brodney clinched the 4-0 win for IU with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the six spot.
Up next, the Hoosiers host two matches inside the IU Tennis Center. On Friday, Feb. 2, Dartmouth comes to Bloomington for a match at 6 PM. Two days later, IU plays Arizona at home with first serve at Noon.
