Hoosiers Split DH with Louisville

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball split a fall doubleheader with Louisville on Sunday afternoon at Andy Mohr Field. The Hoosiers fell in game one, 9-1, before winning game two by the same score.
In the first game of the day, the Cardinals jumped to a 4-0 second-inning lead. Sophomore Taylor Lambert plated a run in the third frame, but Louisville pulled away for the win. Lambert collected a pair of hits for the Hoosiers in the game, while junior Bella Norton went 3-for-3 at the plate.
The final game of the twin-billing saw the Hoosiers take the 4-0 second-inning advantage before a pair of home runs from Norton and sophomore Annika Baez in the fifth extended the lead to 7-1. IU tacked on two more in the sixth to come away with the 9-1 win. Baez went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run. IU also saw multi-hit efforts from Norton, junior Katie Lacefield and sophomores Maddie Westmoreland and Camryn Woodall. Freshmen Natalie Foor and Taylor Askland both saw innings in the win, with Foor earning the victory.
Indiana continues its fall schedule on Friday as the Hoosiers face University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. The Hoosiers will round out the weekend with a doubleheader against Evansville on Saturday.
