Women’s Cross Country climbs a spot in the newest USTFCCCA Poll

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—The U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association announced their updated national rankings on Tuesday afternoon.
The women's team continued to climb in this week's poll as they moved up a spot to 10th. This is the highest ranking in program history. Colorado (1), Boise State (2), New Mexico (3), and Oregon (4) remain the top four while Arkansas moved up two spots to round out the top five.
Stanford (6), Michigan (7), Villanova (8), BYU (9), and the Hoosiers make up the top 10. Indiana is the second highest ranked Big Ten school behind Michigan.
The Hoosiers had a strong showing at Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wisc. over the weekend that saw Indiana finish 3rd overall with 166 points. Katherine Receveur led the squad by crossing the finish 15th in a time of 20:33.8. Maggie Allen continued to race strong as she placed 20th clocking a time of 20:41.5. Bailey Hertenstein and Lexa Barrott rounded out the top 50 for the Hoosiers by placing 43rd and 52nd, respectively.
The men's team notched the No. 22 spot this week. Indiana is the second highest Big Ten program ranked behind Purdue that is ranked No. 18.
Up next, the Hoosiers will travel to Illinois to compete in the Illini Open on Friday evening. Competition is set to begin at 5:40pm EST.
