Indiana vs. No. 18/16 Penn State
Team
• Indiana has faced 21 ranked teams since the start of 2014.
• Senior safety Jonathan Crawford, fifth-year senior offensive lineman Wes Martin, senior defensive lineman Jacob Robinson and fifth-year senior wide receiver Luke Timian served as today's captains for the eighth straight game.
• Ellie Mallory, widow of the late Bill Mallory – IU's all-time winningest coach (1984-96) served as today's honorary captain.
• The Hoosiers celebrated the 1986 All-American Bowl, the 1988 Peach Bowl and the 1988 Liberty Bowl teams coached by Mallory this weekend. Indiana defeated South Carolina in the Liberty Bowl, 34-10, for Mallory's first bowl victory.
• IU's staff and players wore pink in support of cancer prevention and awareness.
Offense
• Indiana's offense ran 100 plays, the third-most in program history. IU ran 101 plays against Iowa on Oct. 15, 2005, and vs. Louisville on Sept. 14, 1985.
• The Hoosiers accumulated 554 total yards, the first time going over 550 yards since notching 567 against Rutgers on Nov. 5, 2016.
• True freshman running back Stevie Scott netted his third 100-yard game of the season, which shares third for an IU true freshman in a single season. Anthony Thompson (5 in 1986) and BenJarvus Green-Ellis (4 in 2003) rank first and second.
• The Syracuse, N.Y., native finished with 138 yards on 26 carries, good for a 5.3 average, and two touchdowns, his second multi-TD game.
• Scott shares second on IU's single-season true freshman list with six touchdowns (Green-Ellis, 7) and is fifth with 695 yards.
• Redshirt sophomore quarterback Peyton Ramsey was 26-of-36 (72.2 percent), for 236 yards and one touchdown.
• The score was Ramsey's 23rd career passing TD, tying him with Trent Green (1989-92) and Blake Powers (2004-07) for 10th all-time on Indiana's list.
• True freshman running back Ronnie Walker Jr. scored his second touchdown of the season on a career-long 30-yard run in the opening stanza.
• Fifth-year senior wide receiver J-Shun Harris II hauled in his second receiving touchdown of the season and the fourth of his career in the fourth quarter. He made four receptions for 44 yards.
• Fifth-year senior Luke Timian shared game-high honors with a season-high-tying six catches for a season-best 58 yards.
• Redshirt junior Donavan Hale made four grabs for 52 yards.
• Indiana reached the end zone for the third time and scored for the sixth time on its game opening possession. IU has 30 points on those six scoring drives.
• Twelve different receivers had a catch for the Hoosiers.
Defense
• The Hoosiers defense held Trace McSorley without a touchdown pass for the first time in his 34 career starts.
• With 10 tackles, redshirt sophomore husky Marcelino Ball IU's first double-digit tackle game since Chase Dutra against Purdue on Nov. 25, 2017.
• Ball also recorded 1.5 tackles for a loss and a half-sack.
• Redshirt freshman safety Bryant Fitzgerald picked off the second pass of his career in the first quarter.
• IU has a pick in seven of eight games this year.
• Senior safety Jonathan Crawford made seven tackles, five solo, and recovered a fumble on an onside kick. Crawford leads the Hoosiers with two fumble recoveries in 2018, has a team-high seven in his career and owns a team-best 19 career takeaways (9 INTs, 7 fumble recoveries, 3 forced fumbles).
• Indiana has 16 takeaways (9 INTs, 7 fumble recoveries) and four multi-takeaway games in 2018.
• Freshmen have accounted for six of the nine INTs and have had a hand in 12 of the 16 takeaways.
• Junior defensive end Allen Stallings IV matched a career-high with two tackles for loss and picked up his second sack of 2018 (5th career).
• Fifth-year senior linebacker Dameon Willis Jr. was credited for a half-sack, the first of his career, on top of five tackles.
• Redshirt freshman linebacker Thomas Allen recorded the first sack of his career.
Special Teams
• Redshirt junior defensive tackle Brandon Wilson blocked Penn State's extra point in the third quarter.
• It is the Hoosiers' second blocked kick of 2018. Redshirt freshman tight end Peyton Hendershot blocked a punt against Ball State on Sept. 15.
• Indiana last blocked a PAT against Rutgers on Oct. 17, 2015 – Darius Latham (2).
• The Hoosiers recovered an onside kick for the first time since at Purdue on Nov. 25, 2017.
• Redshirt junior punter Haydon Whitehead had six punts for 248 yards, 41.3 average, and pinned Penn State inside the 20 twice. His long on the day was 47 yards.
