COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Behind a 38th minute goal from sophomore Grace Geise, Indiana Women's Soccer earned a 1-0 shutout victory at Maryland on Sunday to close out the 2018 season.
KEY MOMENTS
• Geise put the Hoosiers up 1-0 in the 38th minute on her second goal of both the season and her career. After sophomore Melanie Forbes dribbled the ball towards the end line, she dropped it off to junior Chandra Davidson, who turned and sent it towards Geise. Geise took a touch to move to her right before shooting from just inside the 18-yard box, finding the inside of the right post.
• Senior defender Justine Lynn had a huge team save in the 65th minute as a shot from Mikayla Dayes looked to be going inside the left post before Lynn blocked it.
• Another solid Maryland chance came in the 77th minute as a long distance shot by Hope Lewandoski knocked off the crossbar.

QUOTABLE
"We came in with a lot to prove knowing we wanted to go further this season. This was our way of showing what we can do and try and push the program into next season. It means a lot to end on a win in our last game and it's representative of how this team has fought. It will be so fun to watch this team continue to get better next season.
I'm so proud of all of us seniors for sticking with it and the fact that we have such a big class graduating shows how all of us wanted to be here for four or five years and wanted to invest in the program. I think some of the things we did this year pumps hope into the program and shows the potential."
-- Senior Caroline Dreher
"We came into this game with the same mentality that we took into every other game, regardless of if the season was over or not. These kids were on a mission to get a result.
What an incredible group of people and soccer players our senior class was. They have fought tooth and nail for everything they've earned in their soccer careers. They've helped build and sustain an incredible academic and athletic culture within our team. We're so very close and I thought this would be that breakthrough team, but I know they can confidently look behind over these next couple years at the legacy they've left as we continue to build this program to the top of the Big Ten. I cannot put into words how much they've meant to me and Indiana Women's Soccer."
