Ochsenreiter Takes Tournament Lead After 36 Holes at Steelwood Collegiate

Following an opening round team score of 295 left the Hoosiers in fifth place at the 12-team Steelwood Collegiate, the Indiana men's golf team posted a team score of 281 (-7), the second-best team score in round two to move up two spots to third heading into the final round.
The highlight of the day was the 8-under round of 64 by Brock Ochsenreiter in the second round, where he had nine birdies and one bogey.

• Junior Brock Ochsenreiter is in first place individually through 36 holes after scores of 73 and 64 on day one. He has a one stroke lead over Eric Bae from Wake Forest.
• The 64 is tied for the fifth-best single round score in IU history and the best since Jake Brown carded a 62 in 2016. It is also a career-best round for Ochsenreiter, bettering his previous best of 66.
• In round one, Ochsenreiter had three birdies but they were offset by two bogeys and a double bogey.
• Round two saw Ochsenreiter start by recording birdies on his first four holes and five of his first six. After a bogey on his seventh hole, he closed out his first nine with two more birdies to go out in 30. He made the turn and kept the momentum with two more birdies and seven pars.
• Ochsenreiter leads the field in Par 3 scoring (-2) and Par 4 scoring (-4). His 12 total birdies over the first 36 holes is also tops among 70 golfers competing.
• Freshman Harry Reynolds has continued to show his progress late in the fall season, as he is tied for 18th at 1-over par following rounds of 75 and 70.
• Reynolds carded three birdies and six bogeys in round one before turning around to log five birdies and three bogeys in round two.
• Sophomore Ethan Shepherd is one shot behind Reynolds with a total score of 146 (75-71; +2) after the first day. He birdied his first three holes of the day in round one but ran into a tough stretch of holes in the middle of the front nine. Then in round two, he checked in with three birdies and two bogeys to finish one-under for the round.
• Senior Jake Brown had four birdied in both rounds on Saturday, but a couple big numbers derailed his rounds. He is tied for 43rd at 5-over par following scores of 73 and 76.
• Junior Evan Gaesser opened with a 74 in round one and then followed that up with a 77 in the second round. He is tied for 54th at 7-over par through 36 holes.
