Barrott and Burks Earn Big Ten Sportsmanship Awards

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Following the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Sunday, the Big Ten Conference has announced their individual awards along with their Sportsmanship Award Honorees. Junior Lexa Barrott and Senior Kyle Burks were named as Indiana's Sportsmanship Award Honorees per a press release by the league.
The students chosen for this Big Ten award have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These students must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
Barrott and the rest of women's team took home fifth place at the Big Ten Championships this past weekend in Lincoln, Neb. Individually, she placed fifth for the Hoosiers and 39th overall with a time of 21:11.6.
Burks finished 46th overall in a time 24:46.9 at the Big Ten Championships. As a team, the Hoosiers finished in third behind Wisconsin and in-state rival Purdue.
The Hoosiers will return to action on Nov. 9 when the compete at the NCAA Great Lake Regionals. Indiana State is set to host the meet with the first race begin at 11:45 ET.
