Hoosiers Take Down Oakland Behind Three In Double Figures

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Three Hoosiers scored in double figures led by redshirt junior forward Brenna Wise as Indiana got past Oakland on Sunday afternoon, 59-32.
KEY MOMENTS
- Indiana (2-0) started off the game hot, making its first eight of nine shots from the floor en route to shooting 69.2 percent in the opening frame to take a 23-3 lead. They held Oakland to just one made field goal in the first quarter.
- In the second, the IU offense went cold hitting just one field goal in 10 minutes as senior forward Kym Royster completed a three-point play with 52.3 seconds remaining. The Hoosiers were helped out by just nine points from the Golden Grizzlies, as they led 26-12 at the break.
- The Hoosiers scored the first four points in the second half as Oakland cut its lead down to as few as 12. They would win the third quarter, 13-11, but trailed Indiana 39-23.
- In the fourth, Indiana separated itself thanks to a 14-2 run and outscored Oakland 20-9 on its way to a win.
NOTABLES
- Three Hoosiers scored in double figures, led by 14 points from junior forward Brenna Wise, which tied a game-high. Redshirt junior guard Ali Patberg (13 points, eight rebounds, three assists) and freshman forward Aleksa Gulbe (10 points, seven rebounds, three blocks).
- Nine Hoosier scored overall with senior forward Kym Royster and sophomore guard Jaelynn Penn also adding six points.
- Defensively, Indiana held Oakland to just 12 points in the first half and a total of 32, both the fewest by an opponent in the Teri Moren era. The Golden Grizzlies shot just 18.5 percent in the game.
- IU also won the glass, outrebounding the Golden Grizzlies 49-30 and scored 30 of its 59 points inside the paint.
- The Hoosiers improve to 4-0 in the all-time series.
- Indiana improves to 2-0 for the sixth-consecutive season.
