
Hoosiers Take Home 17th and 18th at NCAA Championships; Allen Earns All-America Accolades

MADISON, Wis. – Indiana Cross Country completed action at the NCAA Championships on Saturday afternoon. Both teams placed in the top 20 as the women's squad placed 17th and the men finished 18th.
Colorado took home their third women's national title in program history with 65 points as the 2017 national champion, New Mexico, took runners-up honors with 103 points. The Buffaloes also captured the individual national champion title in Dani Jones who clocked a time of 19:42.76. Michigan led the way for Big Ten teams as they placed fourth with Wisconsin and Michigan State finishing back-to-back in 10th and 11th. With a 17th place finish, the Hoosiers rounded out the top-20 for the Big Ten.
Maggie Allen continued to remain poised as she earned All-America honors at the meet with her 36th placed finish clocking a time of 20:32.73. Louisville, Ky. native Katherine Receveur clocked a time of 20:49.01 to place 66th overall. Bailey Hertenstein was the next Hoosier to cross the finish line as she notched 127th with a time of 21:19.10. Junior Lexa Barrott took third among the Indiana squad and 134th overall in a time of 21:22.05. Haley Harris notched a time of 21:54.99 to take 198th. Kelsey Harris (22:06.50) and Hannah Stoffel (22:09.95) rounded out the field of Hoosiers by finishing 213th and 223rd, respectively.
Northern Arizona captured the three-peat on the men's side with 83 points while BYU took home the runners-up trophy with 116 points. Wisconsin had the individual champion on Saturday afternoon as Morgan McDonald finished in a time of 29:08.22. The Badgers placed eighth as a team, with Indiana and Michigan rounding out Big Ten teams placing in the top-20.
Kyle Mau had a solid performance in the national meet as he placed 49th in a time of 30:08.65. Freshman Dustin Horter competed in his first NCAA Championship race and finished 129th with a time of 30:55.26. Four student-athletes separated the next three Hoosiers that crossed the finish line. Daniel Michalski (30:55.60), Arjun Jha (30:56.61), and Bryce Millar (30:57.99) finished 130th, 133rd, and 136th respectively. Joe Murphy clocked a time of 31:16.28 to take 173rd. Freshman Reese Jordan rounded out competition for Indiana as he placed 197th with a time of 31:36.90.
The national meet concluded the 2018 Cross Country season. Indoor track season begins on Dec. 7 when the Hoosiers host the Hoosier Open.
