Indiana University is in its 119th season of competition in men's basketball. The Hoosiers will host UC Davis as part of the of the Hardwood Showcase. The Hoosiers are coming off a 78-64 win over Texas Arlington, while the Aggies fell 58-55 against Sacramento State. UC Davis also lost at Arkansas 81-58 and UT Arlington, 68-59, two teams the Hoosiers have faced.

Indiana Coach Archie Miller begins his second season of guiding the Cream and Crimson. Last year, the Hoosiers finished 16-15 and 9-9 in the Big Ten. He is 159-79 in seven-plus years as a head coach, which includes six years at the University of Dayton. His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. UC Davis is led by Jim Les, who is in his eighth season. The Aggies have won 3 of the last 4 Big West titles, including last season. He also was the head coach at his alma mater, Bradley.

Senior forward Juwan Morgan and freshman guard Romeo Langford were selected to the 10-member Preseason All-Big Ten team. Both are among 50 players listed as candidates for the 2019 Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award and Langford is among 20 players on the NABC Player of the Year watch list. Langford was named third-team Preseason All-American by ESPN.com and CBSSports.com and earned fourth-team honors from WatchStadium.com. The New,Albany native was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after averaging 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks in two games for the Hoosiers last week.
HOOSIERS ARE THIRD IN THE COUNTRY IN SHOOTING
Coach Archie Miller's squad is the top shooting team in the Big Ten making 55.4% of its shots through the first two weeks of the season. That figure ranks 3rd in the country. IU's 63.6% shooting effort against Marquette was the best ever performance for an Archie Miller coached team in his eight seasons as a head coach. His team's previous best came when Dayton beat George Mason and shot 62.9% in 2016.
DEFENSE MAKING STRIDES
The Hoosiers are 9th in the country in three-point field goal defense. Opponents are shooting 22.1% from long range. IU is holding opponents to 60.0 ppg., on 37.4% shooting. Last year at the time, opponents were averaging 74.8 points on 44.6% shooting. IU held Arkansas without a 3FGM in the final 15:06 on Sunday and limited them to 2-of-13 shooting from long range in the second half. They also held UTA to 1-of-12 shooting in the first half, before a hot Maverick team hit seven in the second half nearly erasing a 20-point deficit.
