
Game Notes: Indiana Hosts Maryland

Setting The Scene
•Indiana (4-5, 1-5 B1G East) returns off its bye week to host Maryland (5-4, 3-3 B1G East) on Saturday, Nov. 10. Kickoff is set for noon EST at Memorial Stadium (52,656; FieldTurf) on BTN.
•IU leads the all-time series 4-2, including a 2-1 mark at home.
•The Hoosiers earned a 42-36 victory the last time the two teams met at Memorial Stadium on Oct. 29, 2016.
•Former wide receiver Glenn Scolnik (1970-72) will officially be inducted into the Indiana Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday and will be recognized at halftime on Saturday.
•Saturday is IU's "Salute to Service" in conjunction with Veterans Day.
The Coaches
•Tom Allen was named Indiana's head coach on Dec. 1, 2016, and made his debut at the 2016 Foster Farms Bowl. The New Castle, Ind., native joined IU as associate head coach/defense on Jan. 15, 2016. Over his first two years, the Hoosiers were the most improved nationally in total defense and passing defense, the sixth-most improved in third down defense and the ninth-most improved in points per game allowed.
•Matt Canada is 5-4 as Maryland's interim head coach. Canada spent the 2004-10 seasons at Indiana. He coached the quarterbacks each year, became passing game coordinator in 2005 and 2006, and served as offensive coordinator from 2007-10.

•Fifth-year senior Luke Timian is a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy for the second straight year.
•Indiana has 16 10-plus play scoring drives (9 TDs, 7 FGs) this year, which shares fifth nationally.
•Stevie Scott is second amongst true freshmen nationally in carries (159), yardage (791) and 100-yard games (3), and shares fifth in touchdowns (7).
•Scott shares first in TDs, shares third in 100-yards games, and is fourth in attempts and in rushing yardage by a true freshman in program history.
•IU recorded its second four-takeaway game (3 FRs, 1 INT) of the season at Minnesota.
•The Hoosiers lead the Big Ten and share eighth nationally with 20 takeaways.
