Three Hoosiers Claim B1G Weekly Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— The Big Ten Conference announced their first weekly awards of the season per a press release on Wednesday afternoon. Leah Moran, Eric Bethea, and Rikkoi Brathwaite were all named athletes of the week by the league.
Leah Morgan opened her 2018 indoor season by breaking two personal records at the Hoosier Open. The junior took first in the long jump and second in the triple jump. She hit a mark of 6.16m (20'2.5") in the long jump and 12.97m (42'7") in the triple jump. The pair of distances marks the best in the Big Ten so far this season and third best in the NCAA.
Bethea kicked off his indoor campaign by notching a mark of 15.82m (51'11") in the triple jump. This mark is the best in the NCAA so far this season. The senior also competed in the 60m where he recorded a personal best time of 6.96.
Brathwaite came out strong in his first meet of the season in the 60 meters by breaking the meet record. He crossed first with a time of 6.68 which marks the best in the nation thus far. He also broke a 16 year-old-record in the event in his home country of the British Virgin Islands.
Up next, the Hoosiers will host the Indiana v. Tennessee Duals on Jan. 5. The first event is scheduled for Noon.
