Postgame Notes
• Indiana improved to 7-0 inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall this season and 7-0 when holding an opponent under 70 points.
• The Hoosiers extended their series lead over to Louisville to 11-9 with their first win over the Cardinals since Feb. 9, 2002.
• In each of the last 4 wins IU has erased a deficit (UC Davis (14), Northwestern (5), Penn State (9), and Louisville (8).
• This is the second straight game that IU has held an opponent to under 40% shooting. Penn State shot 37.1% and Louisville finished at 38.3%, including 34.5% in the second half.
• For the third straight game, IU won by two points or less. This is the first time since Feb. 11-19, 1987 that the Hoosiers have won by two or less in three straight games. Feb. 11 - at Northwestern - 77-75, Feb. 16 - at Wisconsin (3 OT) - 86-85, Feb. 19 - Minnesota - 72-70
• Trailing 47-42 at 11:35 in the second half, the Hoosiers used a 12-3 run to go up 54-50.
• This is the second game this season where Indiana has trailed under the four-minute media timeout and has rallied to win the game. The other time this season was in win against Northwestern on Dec. 1. The Cardinals led 55-54 with 3:50 to go and Northwestern led 61-58.
In the final 3:50 IU held the Cardinals to 2 of 7 shooting from the field, while it made all 3 of its field goal attempts and 7 of 12 from the free throw line
• After the Cardinals took a 58-57 lead with 1:37 to go in the game, IU scored eight straight points to go up 65-58.
• Freshman guard Romeo Langford led the Hoosiers with 21 points, his fifth 20+ point game while making a career-high nine free throws on 14 attempts. Langford leads the Big Ten with 49 free throws made and 71 free throws attempted.
• Along with his nine points, sophomore forward Justin Smith grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and tied his career-high with two assists. He has had 18 rebounds in the last two games.
• Freshman guard Rob Phinisee saw double figures with 10 points and recorded six rebounds. He averaged 11 points this week. He hit a triple with 8:36 to go to give IU its first lead of the game at 49-47, and gave IU the lead for good with another bomb with 1:25 to go at 60:58.
• Junior forward De'Ron Davis contributed eight points and added three assists. The team was +2 with him on the floor.
• Senior forward Juwan Morgan scored 15 points while grabbing five rebounds. This is Morgan's eighth double-digit scoring effort of the season. He now needs 15 points to become the 52nd player in IU history to score 1,000 points or more in a career.
