Three Hoosiers Earn Honors Following Big Ten Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Big Ten Conference announced the award winners of the 2018 Indoor Big Ten Championships, three Hoosiers earned recognition from the conference.
Redshirt junior Katherine Receveur was selected as the Track Athlete of the Championships. She is the first Hoosier to be awarded this honor since Faith Sherrill in 2011.
The Louisville, Ky. native brought home two gold medals starting with the 3000m on day one of the Championships. Receveur won the 3000m with the time of 9:11.52, she is the first to do so since Amy Legacki in 1991.
Receveur lined up for the 5000m race Saturday evening ready to defend her 2017 Championship title. Receveur kept a comfortable position in third for the majority of the race until the last curve where she picked it up and was able to cross the finish line first in 16:19.00. She is the first Hoosier to become a two-time back-to-back 5000m Big Ten Champion since Michelle Dekkers did so in 1989 and 1990. Receveur currently holds the Big Ten Indoor record from her performance last year when she crossed the finish line in 15:28.89.
Sophomore Adam Coulon was nominated as the IU representative for the Sportsmanship Award on the men's side. Coulon brought home a silver medal in the men's pole vault with the mark of 5.28m (17'3.75").
Junior Aaliyah Armstead was nominated as the IU representative for the Sportsmanship Award on the women's side. Armstead finished fourth overall in the women's long jump when she jumped a personal best mark of 6.08m (19'11.5").
The Hoosiers will be back for the NCAA Championships on Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10.
