No. 12 Baseball Hosts Cincinnati in Midweek Game on Tuesday

• Indiana opens a 10-game homestand on Tuesday as it hosts the Cincinnati Bearcats at 3 p.m. from Bart Kaufman Field.
• The Hoosiers enter the week ranked in five polls. IU is ranked 12th by Collegiate Baseball, 14th by D1Baseball.com, 15th by the NCBWA, 15th by Perfect Game, and 18th by Baseball America
• IU is coming off a series win in which it took three of four games at the San Diego Toreros. The Hoosiers hit .329 as a team in the four-game series and had 15 extra-base hits, including four home runs, nine doubles, and two triples.
• Two weekends ago, IU earned a clean sweep at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. The Hoosiers knocked off Rutgers (7-6), Boston College (4-0) and Chicago State (7-2).
• The 9-2 start for the Indiana is its best start since 2001, when the Hoosiers opened that season winning 10 of its first 11 games.
• Through the first three weekends, Indiana's pitching staff is first in the Big Ten in shutouts (2, 12th nationally), second in walks allowed per nine innings (3.06) and third in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.36).
• A strength early in the season has been Indiana's bullpen. Through three weeks, the Hoosier bullpen has been dominant, logging 45.0 innings, allowing just five earned runs (1.00 ERA), striking out 33 and holding opposing hitters to a .237 batting average.
• Junior Luke Miller is second in the Big Ten in home runs (5, 10th nationally), third in total bases (30), fourth in RBI (13), and sixth in slugging percentage (.652).
• Junior starting pitcher Pauly Milto was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week last week, as the Greenwood, Ind., native tossed his first complete game in a 4-0 victory over Boston College at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla., on Feb. 24.
• Indiana kicked off the 2018 season by going 3-1 at Baseball at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C. After dropping the opener to No. 18 Oklahoma, the Hoosiers won the next three over Kansas State (5-0), No. 17 South Alabama (8-4) and Coastal Carolina (6-5).
• Two of IU's first four opponents in Myrtle Beach were ranked in at least one preseason poll (Oklahoma and South Alabama), while Coastal Carolina was the 2016 National Champion.
• IU was voted the preseason favorite to claim the 2018 Big Ten Baseball Championship as voted on by the conference coaches.
