
Moran Soars to No. 2 in the Record Books

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Indiana University track and field closed out the Tennessee Relays Saturday afternoon at Tom Black Track in Knoxville, Tenn.
Sophomore Leah Moran arrived to the triple jump pit prepared to move up in the Indiana University record books and that's exactly what she did. She started the day off with a personal record of 12.63m (41' 5.25") on her third attempt, which earned her a spot in the finals. She then went on to improve her personal record to 12.97m (42' 6.75") on her sixth and final jump of the day, which earned her a third place finish.
The Stillwater, NY native now has the second best mark in Indiana school history, moving up from eighth. The school record of 13.00m (42' 8") is held by Lauren Chesnut from the 2003 Big Ten Outdoor Championships. Moran moved up to the No. 15 mark in nation and the second best mark in the Big Ten.
Sophomore Adam Coulon had a season-best performance in the pole vault invite. The Downs, Ill. native brought home the silver when he cleared 5.30m (17' 4.5") on his second attempt, which ties him Drew Volz for the tenth best mark in school history. Coulon is now ranked No. 3 in the Big Ten and No. 22 in the nation.
On the track both our men's and women's 4x800m relays brought home the gold. The women's team consisting of sophomore Joely Pinkston, senior Brenna Calder, junior Kelsey Harris and senior Kendell Wiles crossed the finish line in 8:43.43, which is the fifth fastest time in school history. Redshirt senior Jordan Huntoon, redshirt freshman Teddy Browning, senior Daniel Kuhn and sophomore Cooper Williams ran the seventh fastest time in school history of 7:22.96.
In the 4x200m relays sophomore Megan Grabowski, senior Brittany Thomas, freshman Zykeria Williams and freshman Natalie Price took fourth with the time of 1:35.62, which is the fourth fastest time in school history. On the men's side junior Derek Grimmer, sophomore William Session, freshman Isaiah Ware and junior Treyton Harris finished fifth overall with the time of 1:26.40.
The distance medley relay team of redshirt freshman Ben Veatch, freshman Zubin Muncherji, redshirt junior Joe Murphy and redshirt sophomore Bryce Millar took silver when they crossed the finish line in 9:57.70. The women's team of redshirt junior Katherine Receveur, junior Riley Egbula, sophomore Mallory Mulzer and junior Haley Harris earned bronze when the ran the seventh fastest time in school history of 11:27.50
The Hoosiers are scheduled to compete in two meets next weekend, the Cardinal Classic hosted by Stanford University and the War Eagle Invitational hosted by Auburn University.
