BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Indiana Women's Soccer traveled to Western Kentucky on Sunday, earning a 3-1 victory against Middle Tennessee State and a 3-2 win against the host Hilltoppers. Both games totaled 60 minutes with each half being 30 minutes in duration.
In the first game of the day, sophomore Chandra Davidson netted a pair of goals while redshirt junior Annelie Leitner also found the back of the net. Davidson, who scored six goals last season, struck first in the 19th minute on an assist from junior Maya Piper.
After the Blue Raiders tied the game at 1-1 in the 38th minute, IU responded with just seven minutes to go as sophomore Meghan Scott delivered a corner kick that found its way to Davidson, who buried it to put the Hoosiers on top.
IU tacked on another goal two minutes later as Leitner scored off the assist from freshman Grace Geise.
Against the Hilltoppers, IU saw a pair of goals from freshman Ana Garibaldi, as well as a score from Piper.
Piper put Indiana up in the fourth minute after picking up a ball delivered by freshman Melanie Forbes. Piper led the Hoosiers in scoring in 2017 with seven goals.
WKU answered right out of the halftime break, scoring in the 31st minute of action. However, Garibaldi would give IU the lead back just four minutes later off an assist from Davidson.
After the Hilltoppers again tied the game at 2-2 in the 41st minute, Garibaldi netted the gamewinner two minutes later, with the assist going to fellow freshman Cam Bell.
Indiana closes out its spring schedule on Saturday as the Hoosiers travel to Grand Park in Westfield, Ind. to face Notre Dame at 7 p.m. The event is part of the Crossroads of America Showcase and admission is free, with a $1 donation being appreciated.
