Hoosiers Fall to Minnesota in Big Ten Quarterfinals, 4-1

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Indiana men's tennis team (15-12) was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament after falling to the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 4-1, on Friday afternoon.
The Gophers started things off with a doubles point win after taking the first spot, 6-0 and the third spot, 6-4.
The Gophers brought in three ranked singles players but IU also had its two ranked players of No. 111 Raheel Manji and No. 120 Antonio Cembellin in the lineup. Minnesota's lead went up to 2-0 after Marino Alpeza won at the No. 6 spot. At the third spot, the Gophers had the No. 81 ranked player in the country who took the match 6-1, 6-4.
Down 3-0, Cembellin faced a No. 90 ranked opponent and took him down in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. It is Cembellin's second ranked win in the past seven days as he beat the fourth ranked player from Ohio State last Sunday.
With three matches to go, sophomore Zac Brodney forced a third set at No. 5 after a 6-4 second set win. Battling in their own third sets were Manji and sophomore Bennett Crane.
Minnesota got the pivotal fourth point in the match when No. 79 ranked Felix Corwin defeated Manji, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.
