
Morrison Breaks School Record by a Foot

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Three-time All-American Willie Morrison broke the shot put school record by a foot Friday afternoon on the second day of the Penn Relays.
The Leavenworth, Kan. native launched the shot put 19.98m (65' 6.5") on his third attempt of the day, which is a life time best and new school record. Morrison held the previous record of 19.69m (64' 7.25"), which he set at the 2017 NCAA East Prelims.
Junior Treyton Harris finished with an outdoor season-best mark of 7.56m (24' 9.75"), which earned him a third place finish. On the women's side in the field, sophomore Leah Moran brought home her second silver of the weekend when she jumped 12.46m (40' 10.5") on her fifth attempt of the afternoon.
On the track sophomore William Session qualified for the 110m hurdles when he finished fifth overall in the prelims with the time of 14.03. Sophomore Megan Grabowski also qualified for the finals when she finished second in her 100m dash heat with the time of 12.05.
The men's 110m hurdles finals will start at 3:20 pm ET and the women's 100m dash finals will start at 3:35 pm ET Saturday afternoon.
In the relays the men's 4x400m team consisting of junior Derek Grimmer, Treyton Harris, freshman Isaiah Ware and freshman Zubin Muncherji advanced for the college final when they crossed the finish line in 3:13.90. The 4x400m college finals is scheduled to start at 5:30 pm ET.
Senior Brenna Calder, junior Kelsey Harris, Haley Harris and redshirt junior Katherine Receveur brought home silver in the 4x1500m when they crossed the finish line in 17:41.32, which is the second fastest time in school history.
The men's distance medley relay (DMR) finished fourth overall with the time of 9:36.89. Sophomore Cooper Williams started the Hoosiers off in the 1200m handing the baton off to Zubin Muncherji at 2:57.44. Zubin Muncherji made it through his 400m in 47.70 and passed off to senior Daniel Kuhn who took off for his 800m. Kuhn wrapped up his two laps at 1:47.01 as he handed off to redshirt junior Joe Murphy for the final 1600m of the race. Murphy crossed the finish line in 4:04.75.
The final events of the featured the men's and women's sprint medley relays. The men's team consisting of Isaiah Ware, Treyton Harris, Derek Grimmer and Joe Murphy crossed the finish line in 3:25.19. The women's team consisting of Brittany Thomas, junior Riley Egbula, junior Jeyland Valentin and sophomore Mallory Mulzer took sixth with the time of 3:57.24.
The Hoosiers will be back in action Saturday for the third and final day of the Penn Relays. Freshman Jyles Etienne will start the day off in the men's high jump championship at 1:30 pm ET. The first track event of the day will be the Olympic development men's mile featuring redshirt freshman Ben Veatch at 3:55 pm ET.
