Hoosiers Host Boilermakers Saturday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will host Purdue on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Indiana will welcome DePaul for a Sunday 3:00 p.m. match.
The Hoosiers (14-7, 2-4) lead the all-time series against Purdue 52-6 and won the meeting last year in West Lafayette.
Last season against Purdue it came down to the last match and junior Madison Appel.
Appel had won her first set, but then dropped a 7-6 (7-3) tiebreak in the second set. Appel went up 4-2 in the third set, but her opponent Alex Sabe came back to even the set 4-4 and 5-5.
Appel came through for the Hoosiers as she converted and took advantage of her opportunities for a 7-5 win on a deuce point for the match.
Appel holds an 11-5 record at the No. 1 singles position in the 2017-18 season. Caitlin Bernard leads the Hoosiers this season with 15 singles wins in dual match play and 23 singles wins including fall tournaments.
The Hoosiers close out their Big Ten home matches next weekend with Ohio State (April 13) and Penn State (April 15).
