IU Athletics Mourns The Passing of Donald Bruno

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University Athletics is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of track and field standout Donald Bruno. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time.
The Red Deer, Alberta, Canada native was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten recipient. Bruno won the Tichenor Award in 1996, which is awarded to one male and one female athlete from Indiana University with the highest GPA.
The GTE Academic All-District V honoree anchored the 4x400m relay team that took sixth at the 1995 Outdoor Big Ten Championships. As a junior, Bruno was the top 200m and 400m runner for the Hoosiers. He held the best indoor time for IU in the 200m (21.80) and the 400m (48.40) as well as the best outdoor time in the 400m (47.07) and the second fastest outdoor time in the 200m (21.53). He also finished fourth in the 400m at the Outdoor Big Ten Championships.
Bruno closed his senior year with the Hoosiers' second-best indoor 400m time of 47.01 at the Indiana USAT&F meet and the fastest outdoor 400m time of 47.01 at the Billy Hayes Invitational.
