No. 19 Indiana Clinches Series with 5-1 Defeat of Maryland

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana baseball (36-15, 13-9) clinched the series by defeating the Maryland Terrapins by a score of 5-1 on Friday afternoon.
Junior Luke Miller put together a multi-hit game, which included a home run in the eighth inning. Sophomore Matt Gorski also went deep in the win, while junior Logan Kaletha reached base three times and scored twice. Senior Logan Sowers additionally drove in two runs in the win.
Junior Pauly Milto strung together another quality start, as he went six innings giving up seven hits and one earned run. Sophomore Andrew Saalfrank and senior B.J. Sabol combined for three scoreless innings of relief in the win.
The Hoosiers got off on the right foot in the bottom of the first. Kaletha led things off with a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved to third on a single by junior Matt Lloyd. Gorski then had a quality at-bat, where he drove in the run from third on a groundout.
The Terrapins tied the contest up in the top of the sixth. Marty Costes got a leadoff single and made it to third on a pair of wild pitches. From there Will Watson hit an RBI double to even things up at one run a piece.
Indiana would regain the lead for good though in the bottom half of the inning. Back-to-back walks by Kaletha and Lloyd set up a sacrifice bunt for Gorski to put the runners on second and third. Sowers connected from there on a two-run single up the middle to put IU ahead 3-1.
The Hoosiers tacked on some insurance with solo home runs from Gorski and Miller.
Indiana closes the regular season at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday. Seniors Laren Eustace, Brian Hobbie Kade Kryzsko, Chris Lowe, B.J. Sabol and Logan Sowers will all be honored pregame.
