Hoosiers in the Pros – MLS Update

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – With the 2018 MLS season underway, below is an update on all nine former Indiana University men's soccer standouts playing in the top American league.
Grant Lillard – Chicago Fire
After signing a Homegrown Contract with the Fire after his standout career at Indiana, Lillard has earned immediate playing time in his rookie season. Lillard has started in six of the seven matches he's appeared in for the Fire.
Eric Alexander – Houston Dynamo
Playing in his ninth season in the MLS, Alexander has started all nine matches he's appeared in this season, totaling one goal and two assists.
Lee Nguyen – LAFC
After playing six seasons with the New England Revolution, Nguyen was traded to the Los Angeles Football Club in May. Nguyen, who has scored 51 goals and tallied 49 assists in his stellar MLS career, has appeared in four matches with LAFC this season.
Mason Toye – Minnesota United FC
After being selected with the seventh pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, Toye has appeared in eight matches as a rookie, earning one assist. The Generation adidas standout recorded an assist in his first career match for MNUFC.
Femi Hollinger-Janzen – New England Revolution
Playing his third season in the MLS after being selected by the Revolution with the 51st overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. Hollinger-Janzen has totaled 32 appearances and two starts in his first three MLS campaigns.
Tommy Thompson – San Jose Earthquakes
After signing as San Jose's first Homegrown Player in 2014, Thompson has appeared in 81 matches, earning 37 starts over the course of his five-year MLS career. Thompson has netted one goal and notched four assists in MLS action.
Will Bruin – Seattle Sounders FC
The former IU standout continues to score goals in his eighth MLS season, netting three goals to go with two assists so far in 2018. Bruin has started all seven matches he's appeared in this year for the Sounders. On his career, Bruin has totaled 64 goals and 24 assists in 216 career matches.
Eriq Zavaleta – Toronto FC
After winning the MLS Cup last season, Zavaleta continues to be a key member for Toronto FC in 2018, earning three starts in four matches played. In 2017, Zavaleta started 27 of 29 matches in helping Toronto win the MLS Cup for the first time. In his six MLS seasons, Zavaleta has started 70 of 88 career matches, scoring two goals with one assist.
Drew Moor – Toronto FC
Just like Zavaleta, Moor was a critical cog for Toronto FC last season. Moor started 24 of 25 matches last season for the MLS Cup Champions, scoring two goals with one assist. Playing in his 14th MLS season, Moor also won the MLS Cup with the Colorado Rapids in 2010. Moor has started 350 of his career 364 matches, netting 27 goals with eight assists.
