
Hoosiers Head to Tampa for NCAA East Preliminaries

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University track and field will travel south to Tampa, Fla. to compete in the NCAA East Preliminaries hosted by the University of South Florida Thursday, May 24 through Saturday, May 25.
A total of 31 Hoosiers qualified, 17 women and 14 men. The women will compete in a total of 11 events including six track events and five field events. The men compete in nine total events consisting of five track events and four field events.
Day one will feature 17 Hoosiers across ten events. The first event of the day will be the men's 1500m first round at 1:30 pm ET. Redshirt junior Joe Murphy enters the race with the tenth fastest time in the east region and will be joined by redshirt freshman Teddy Browning. Senior Brenna Calder, junior Haley Harris and redshirt freshman Hannah Stoffel will run in the women's 1500m first round at 2:00 pm ET.
Freshman Zubin Muncherji and freshman Natalie Price will both run in the first round of the 400m. Muncherji is scheduled to run at 3:20 pm ET and Price at 3:45 pm ET.
The men's and women's 800m first round that will feature six Hoosiers, three men and three women. On the men's side senior Daniel Kuhn and sophomore Cooper Williams both enter the weekend with the second fastest time in the east region (1:46.06) after breaking the school record at the Big Ten Championships last weekend. Kuhn took the school record with the time of 1:46.06.052 and Williams finished next to Kuhn with the time of 1:46.06.053. Redshirt senior Jordan Huntoon will join Kuhn and Williams on the track at 4:10 pm ET.
On the women's side senior Kendell Wiles travels to Tampa with 16th fastest time in the east region (2:05.44), which is the fifth fastest time in school history. Junior Kelsey Harris enters the weekend with the 19th fastest time in the east region and the sixth fastest time in school history (2:05.57). Sophomore Joely Pinkston will join Wiles and Harris on the track at 4:35 pm ET.
Junior Maggie Allen will close out the track events on day one in the women's 10,000m semifinals at 9:40 pm ET.
In the field sophomore Adam Coulon will start the Hoosiers off in the men's pole vault first round at 9:30 am ET. Coulon enters the weekend in a three-way-tie at the No. 19 spot with the clearance of 5.30m (17' 4.5").
Junior Treyton Harris and junior Aaliyah Armstead will compete in the first round of the men's and women's long jump Thursday evening with Harris jump at 3:30 pm ET and Armstead jump at 6:30 pm ET. Armstead travels to Tampa tied for the 16th best mark in the east region after she set a personal record of 6.30m (20' 8") at the Big Ten Championships.
Sophomore Khayla Dawson will close out the field events for the Hoosiers Thursday night in the first round of the women's shot put at 5:30 pm ET. Dawson enters the weekend with the eighth best mark in the east region of 16.94m (55' 7"), which is the fourth best mark in school history.
Day two will feature three first round events for the Hoosiers. Sophomore William Session will start the day off at 12:30 pm ET in the first round of the 110m hurdles. Session travels to Tampa with the time of 13.57, which is the sixth fastest time in the east region and the third fastest time in school history. Freshman Zykeria Williams will compete in the first round of the women's 100m hurdles at 1:00 pm ET.
Senior Rachel Mather will compete in the first round of the women's pole vault at 9:30 am ET Friday evening.
The third and final day will feature two semifinal track events, one quarterfinal track event and four first round field events. Junior Nycia Ford will kick the Hoosiers off in the first round of the women's hammer throw at 8:45 am ET. Ford travels to Tampa with the sixth best mark in the east region and the third best mark in school history after a lifetime best performance of 64.19m (210' 7") at the Big Ten Championships.
Sophomore Leah Moran and junior Eric Bethea will compete in the first round of the men's and women's triple jump. Moran will jump at 12:30 pm ET and Bethea will jump at 3:30 pm ET. Moran enters the weekend tired for the 17th best mark in the east region with the mark of 12.97m (42' 6.75"), which is the second best mark in school history. Bethea travels to Tampa with the mark of 15.90m (52' 2"), which is the 15th best mark in the east region and ties him for the seventh best mark in school history.
Junior Willie Morrison and junior David Schall will round out the field events for the Hoosiers in the first round of the men's shot put at 5:30 pm ET. Morrison broke the school multiple times so far this season including at the Big Ten Championships with the mark of 20.22m (66' 4.25"), which is the fifth best mark in the east region coming into the meet.
On the track redshirt freshman Ben Veatch and redshirt sophomore Bryce Millar will compete in the semifinals of the men's 5000m at 8:05 pm ET. Veatch travels to Tampa with the 12th fastest time in the east region (13:50.49). On the women's side redshirt junior Katherine Receveur will take off after the men's race at 8:45 pm ET. Receveur broke the school record at the Stanford Invitational with the time of 15:43.26, which is the fifth fastest time in the east region.
The final event of the day for the Hoosiers will be the women's quarterfinal 4x400m relay at 4:15 pm. Junior Riley Egbula will start with the baton out of the blocks and hand off to senior Kendell Wiles who will pass off to junior Jeyland Valentin and freshman Natalie Price will finish the race.
