Hoosiers Ready to Compete in the USATF Outdoor Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Four Hoosiers will travel to Des Moines, IA to compete in the 2018 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships along with seven IU track and field alumni.
Senior Daniel Kuhn and sophomore Cooper Williams started the meet off on Thursday, June 21 in the first round of the men's 800m. Williams finished 24th overall with the time of 1:50.04. Kuhn advanced to the semifinals after crossing the finish at 1:46.80, just short of his lifetime best and school record. Kuhn will compete in the semifinals on Friday, June 22 at 9:05 pm ET
Sophomore William Session is scheduled to compete in the first round of the 110m hurdles on Saturday, June 23 at 3:35 pm ET. Session is in the second heat and there are three heats total. The top four times plus the next four fastest times will advance to semi finals.
School record holder Willie Morrison will compete in the shot put finals on Saturday at 3:45 pm ET. The junior is in the first flight out of two, the top eight will advance to the finals.
On the alumni side, the Hoosiers have three women competing and four men. On the track Sarah Pease (IU 2011) advanced to the 3,000m steeplechase finals after finishing eighth overall in the first round with the time of 9:59.44. Pease will run in the finals on Saturday, June 23 at 4:20 pm ET. Andy Bayer, class of 2013, will run in the 3,000m steeplechase at 4:15 pm ET on Friday, June 22.
In the field for the alumni Rex Parker, class of 2012, will open the meet for the Hoosiers in the triple jump finals at 6:30 pm ET on Friday, June 22. Parker is in the first flight and the top eight between two flights will advance to the finals. Saturday will feature two IU alumni in the men's pole vault at 2:30 pm ET, Scoot Houston class of 2013 and Jeff Coover class of 2010.
Sunday will feature two Hoosier alumni on the women's side in the pole vault finals and the shot put finals. Sydney Walter (IU 2017) will compete in the pole vault finals at 2:55 pm ET. Monique Roddick, class of 2012, will compete in the shot put finals at 3:10 pm ET. Roddick is in the second flight and the top eight between the two flights will advance to the finals.
