BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Women's Golf has announced its nine tournament slate for the upcoming 2018-19 season.
The Hoosiers will play in four tournaments in the Fall 2018 portion and five in Spring 2019. The season kicks off Sept. 9-11 at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C. hosted by the College of Charleston. IU returns to the Mary Fossum Invitational in East Lansing on Sept. 15-16.
Play in October opens up on Oct. 8-9 with the Illinois Women's Invite while the fall season comes to a close on Oct. 26-28 at the Ladies Fall Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Louisville in Atlanta.
The spring season begins in Puerto Rico as IU goes back to the Lady Puerto Rico Classic (hosted by Purdue) in Rio Grande Feb. 10-12 for the first time since 2015-16. Returning state side, the Hoosiers once again take part in the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. hosted annually by Wisconsin. Indiana has taken part in the tournament every year since 2012.
IU will hit the links just one time in March in its return to the state of South Carolina, playing at Briar's Creek Invitational in Charleston, S.C. They then head to the Clemson Invitational at the Reserve at Lake Keowee where they finished eighth behind top 20 finishes from Mary Parsons and Priscilla Schmid.
They will get their final tune-up at the Lady Boilermaker Classic in West Lafayette on April 13-14. Dates and location for the Big Ten Tournament will be announced at a later date.
The Hoosiers return their top four stroke averages from last season in Parsons and rising senior Erin Harper. Parsons set the new school record for single season stroke average in 2017-18 (73.31) while Harper advanced to the NCAA Championships as an individual, the first for IU since 1989. She closed out the season at a 74.12 stroke average while Schmid (74.16) and rising junior Elisa Pierre (74.16) will guide the Hoosiers in the upcoming season. Head Coach Clint Wallman will enter his 15th season at the helm of the Hoosier program.
