WASHINGTON D.C. – The Indiana University Department of Athletics was recognized for excellence in writing and video production at this year's CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Convention. The department received a "Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest" Award and a "Video Features" Award from CoSIDA at the organization's annual convention in Washington D.C.
The 2018 Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest drew a total of 383 entries with the Athlete Profile category leading the way with 87 stories. Submissions were first judged at the district level with district winners advancing to a national committee. Indiana's district includes all Division I universities from Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario and Manitoba.
CoSIDA sponsors media guide/publication and digital design contests with CoSIDA members at every level having the opportunity to receive recognition for work. Judging is done by news media/communications professionals who use those publications. To qualify for submission, all videos must be developed In-House and not from an outside agency. Video feature submissions ranged from recruiting, promotion (athlete, game, program, etc.), highlight (athlete or game).
