LAS VEGAS – The Indiana volleyball team opened the 2018 season with wins against host UNLV and LIU Brooklyn on Friday at the UNLV Invitational.
Indiana picked up a 3-1 (26-24, 17-25, 25-23, 25-19) victory against the Rebels and earned a 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-23) win over the Blackbirds.
Notes & Numbers
• Indiana head coach Steve Aird got his first win with the Hoosiers.
• The Hoosiers opened the season 2-0.
• Kendall Beerman combined for 33 kills in the two matches.
• Beerman came within one of her career-high with 18 kills against LIU Brooklyn.
• Beerman added double-digit digs in both matches to record double-doubles.
• Deyshia Lofton blocked a career-high nine balls against UNLV. Lofton came back with seven blocks against the Blackbirds.
• Lofton is hitting .378 with 17 kills this season.
• In her first action freshman outside hitting Breana Edwards tallied seven kills against the Rebels.
• Libero Bayli Lebo led the Hoosiers in digs with 17 against UNLV and 15 digs against LIU Brooklyn.
