Postgame Quotes
Indiana Head Coach Amanda Janney Misselhorn
What helped the team succeed in getting two goals in the first 15 minutes?
"We wanted to have a strong start and to carry our intensity from Friday's game into this one, so we're pleased to see two goals so close together. It was exciting to see us match that level of energy and to have that lead to scoring chances."
How was the team able to protect that lead after going up 2-0?
"I'm really pleased with the team effort today. We were able to have everyone get in the game and contribute to the win. It helps to have the depth in our forward line where we're able to run ice hockey lines to keep our forwards fresh and working hard to keep up the attack. Our midfield rotation worked well today to keep us as fresh as possible. The depth of our team is really showing."
Who stood out today on the turf?
"Ciara Girouard did a great job in the first half to give a huge spark, causing the corners early in the game. Nora Aucker and Elle Hempt played fantastically under a lot of pressure in the backfield. Ball State did a great job to hit the ball long up the field but those two kept intercepting and denying the chances. The seniors really stepped up on defense to maintain that shutout."
Three goals and three assists, all from different players. What does that show about your depth on the attacking end?
"It's great to see the variety of different goal scorers, and getting a field goal in both games has been a positive for us too. Our corner unit has been excellent in the past, but getting some great field goals is a good sign for us. Shelby Querry and Sachi Ananias played fantastically today in goal, and Sachi stepped up in the second half to keep the lead. The coaching staff was pleased to see the young players step up when the game pressure was on them."
Keys for practice in the coming week as they prepare for a road weekend…
"We want to find the right combinations, cleaning up our pass patterns so we can be that quick two-touch team that we want to be on attack. We're also working on different combinations of players in terms of who is in the right position. We changed the shape of our starting lineup today to see what will be best for the future. It's great to see players step up, like Maddie Boehm, who played well today and gave us a spark in the midfield. Hanna Zarrilli stepped up in the backfield as well. That makes it hard as a coach because we have so many great options in our young players."

How did IU succeed in getting on the attack early in the game?
"This game was a true battle of mental toughness after Friday's home game. Having the discipline to get to those places we needed to be in order to put those goals away was clutch, and it set the tone for the rest of the game."
How did the defensive unit hold the lead for the final 55 minutes?
"We just had to play our own game, knocking the ball around back to keep the ball moving. When we found openings up the field, we did well to capitalize on those opportunities."
On returning to her home state next weekend after picking up the first win…
"Heading to the East Coast is exciting for all of the East Coast girls because it's an opportunity to essentially play for a home crowd away from home. Going into the weekend with a win under our belt will be huge for our confidence in practice this week."
