Indiana vs. Ball State

TEAM
• Indiana has won 14 of its last 15 regular season non-conference games, including six straight overall, 10 of the last 11 at home and five consecutive on the road.
• IU is 3-0 for the 17th time in program history and the first time since 2015.
• Since 2013, the Hoosiers are 8-1 against teams from the state of Indiana, including 2-0 against Ball State.
• The 28-point win is the largest margin of victory for IU in this series.
• Indiana is now 39-9-1 all-time against Mid-American Conference opponents and 6-3 vs. BSU.
• True freshman defensive tackle Shamar Jones and true freshman running back Ronnie Walker Jr. earned their first playing time of the season. IU has played 12 true freshmen in 2018.
• The Hoosiers lost the coin toss for the first time. Ball State elected to receive, the third time in as many games Indiana's opponent has started with the ball.
• Senior safety Jonathan Crawford, fifth-year senior offensive lineman Wes Martin, senior defensive lineman Jacob Robinson and fifth-year senior wide receiver Luke Timian served as today's captains for the third straight game.
OFFENSE
• Indiana finished with 457 total yards and 255 yards on the ground. IU surpassed 450 yards for the second time this season and 200 yards for the third time in as many weeks.
• IU tallied 200-plus rushing yards twice in 2017.
• Ten Hoosiers made receptions and nine recorded carries in the game.
• Redshirt sophomore Peyton Ramsey went 20-for-27 (.741) in the air for 173 yards. On the ground, Ramsey had 43 yards and reached the end zone for the first time in 2018 and the third time in his career. The Cincinnati native has completed 70 percent of his passes six times in his career and all three games this year. After he opened the game 2-of-6, Ramsey completed 18-of-19 to close out the first half 20-of-25.
• Stevie Scott carded his second consecutive 100-yard game with 114 yards on 18 attempts (6.3 average) and his first career two-touchdown game (2). He did not lose a yard on those 18 carries. Scott is the fastest true freshman back in IU history to reach the century mark twice.
• The Syracuse, N.Y., native is the fourth IU true freshman back to reach the 100-yard mark in consecutive weeks, joining Mike Harkrader (1976), Anthony Thompson (1986) and BenJarvus Green-Ellis (2003). Thompson holds the program record with five consecutive 100-yard games followed by back-to-back 100-yarders from Scott, Harkrader and Green-Ellis.
• Scott caught a career-high three balls for a career-high 12 yards.
• Luke Timian finished with game-highs in receptions (5) and yardage (56). The fifth-year senior became the 22nd Hoosier to reach 100 receptions (102) and 1,000 yards (1,055).
• Both sophomore wide receiver Whop Philyor and true freshman athlete Reese Taylor carried the ball and made catches. Philyor rushed once for 29 yards and made three receptions for 19 yards. Taylor received two carries and added three grabs for 21 yards. He also returned three kicks for 66 yards and finished with 83 all-purpose yards.
• Redshirt freshman tight end Peyton Hendershot (3 catches, 22 yards) and true freshman tight end Matt Bjorson (2, 31) collected career-bests in receptions and yardage.
• On his first career carry, true freshman running back Ronnie Walker Jr. raced 18 yards into the end zone to extend the Indiana lead to 31-3 in quarter No. 3.
DEFENSE
• Eighteen Hoosiers tallied multiple tackles and the defense forced six three-and-outs.
• Linebacker Reakwon Jones netted the first sack of his career in the fourth quarter and his first career two-TFL game. The redshirt junior shared for the team lead with five tackles.
• Senior safety Jonathan Crawford added his second career sack on the very next play. Crawford ended the afternoon with a career-best two stops for loss and five tackles.
• Sophomore linebacker T.D. Roof recorded his first career sack as a Hoosier and the third of his career. Roof's previous two sacks came at Georgia Tech. He closed out the game with four stops.
• On the game's final play, redshirt junior defensive back Isaac James registered his first career interception and the team's second of the year.
• True freshman defensive end James Head Jr. finished with one tackle for a loss and two quarterback hurries.
• With two tackles, fifth-year senior defensive tackle Mike Barwick Jr. accumulated the 50th and 51st stops of his career.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• With his 86-yard punt return touchdown in the second quarter, J-Shun Harris II tied Tim Wilbur for the program record with the third of his career (2018 – 1, 2017 – 2). The 86-yarder is tied for the seventh-longest in school history.
• Harris ended the game with 103 yards to move into eighth place on the Indiana career list with 389. It marked his second career game over 100 punt return yards (109 at Virginia – Sept. 9, 2017).
• Redshirt freshman Peyton Hendershot blocked a punt in the second quarter, the Hoosiers first since Zeke Walker at Rutgers on Nov. 5, 2016.
• Redshirt junior Logan Justus drilled his second field goal of the season, from 21 yards, to put the Hoosiers on the board in the opening quarter. Justus hit all five of his PAT attempts.
• Kickoff specialist Jared Smolar recorded six touchbacks on seven kicks and 453 yards, a single-game high in both categories.
