Postgame Quotes
Indiana head coach Amanda Janney Misselhorn
Opening Statement:
"It's frustrating that our good play isn't showing up on the scoreboard. Between the midfield, we're having some good combinations and passing plays but just not finishing on the attacking end. There's a lot of positives coming out of the weekend and a lot of good things to take away and build on."
The team created numerous attacking chances but couldn't find a finishing touch:
"Our poise and composure in the circle need to keep improving as the season progresses. We were getting some good chances, especially in the second half where we're earning shots and corners. We just have to find a way to put them in the back of the net."
Standout performances from the game:
"Andi Jackson played really well today. Her hustle in the midfield kept us dominant in that area of the field. Hailey probably had her best game today, and it's good to see her getting those shooting opportunities in the circle. Elle Hempt stepped up as a leader, especially when we put her back in the middle as a kicking back and didn't allow goals from that position. She's stepping up as a leader. We just have to put it together with the whole team now."
Using these results to improve performances down the road:
"Our captains said as much today, that this was going to be a turning point. We just can't come out flat in the first half and expect to get an easy win. It's a good learning experience to know that we have to play at our best to get the wins."
The upcoming home weekend, the Hoosier Invitational:
"We're excited about the opportunity this tournament weekend brings. After our showing against Louisville, we know that we're capable of playing with top-ranked teams. Stanford's smart passing style is a perfect matchup for us, so it's a great opportunity to improve our hockey and get two wins at home."
Senior Nora Aucker
Message to the team after the game:
"We acknowledged the things that we definitely need to work on: getting more sustained attack, playing solid defense, and all of the little things we can do between the 25s. Just cleaning that up and making sure that we look sharp, especially for Big Ten play. We wanted to make sure, facing two losses this weekend that we didn't want to have, that we move forward and make big strides from here."
Finishing those attacking chances:
"It's kind of twofold, because it's great that we're having those attack chances and that we're playing great on the baseline and entering the circle. But it comes down to that last step of finishing and making sure we have people down and ready in those finishing spots. On one hand, it's great to see that we're there, but we need to focus on that this week and in our games next weekend."
The corner units on both ends of the field:
"This is the second year of having the same people in that defensive unit, so the key for that is really knowing our jobs and executing them well. The goalies have been great with demanding what they want and making sure that we're all on the same page. It's a good, cohesive unit that's working well for us right now, especially on defense."
"The offense did well to earn a lot of attack corners, making the correct motions and performing the set plays but it's that last execution piece that leads to finishes on the post or where the tip needs to be."
