Indiana Opens Fall Play with 6-0 Win Against Lake Land

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball began its 2018 fall schedule with a 6-0 win against Lake Land College on Sunday afternoon at Andy Mohr Field. The Indiana pitching staff of Tara Trainer, Natalie Foor and Taylor Askland combined to toss a no-hitter against Lake Land.

Junior Katie Lacefield paced the IU offense with a pair of hits, two runs and an RBI. Sophomores Taylor Lambert and Camryn Woodall and freshmen Juvia Davis and Paige Chitwood also scored a run for the Hoosiers.

The Hoosiers jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first frame before adding three runs in the second to take a 5-0 advantage. The final IU run came in the final inning to make it 6-0.

IU returns to action on Sunday as the Hoosiers play host to Louisville for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
