IU plays No. 6 Michigan on Sunday
Columbus, Ohio – The Indiana Field Hockey team (2-8) had strong chances to tie the game late in the second half but came up short in a 1-0 loss to the No. 23 Ohio State Buckeyes.
KEY MOMENTS
• Goalie Sachi Ananias made three saves early on to keep the game scoreless but in the 23rd minute the Buckeyes found the scoreboard with a one-time shot from the top of the circle that was deflected in.
• The Hoosiers only shot of the game came from Ciara Girouard in the 28th minute but it was blocked in front by the Ohio State defense.
• Indiana was putting on pressure late in the second half when they drew a penalty corner with less than a minute to go. Off the penalty, Elle Hempt's shot went too high in the goal and the clock ran out shortly after.
NOTABLES
• Ciara Girouard registered a shot for the 10th straight game.
• Goalkeeper Sachi Ananias made a season-high four saves, three in the first half and one in the second half.
• The Hoosiers defense blocked seven shots.
QUOTABLES
"I thought the team fought hard to get back in the second half. On the boards, it is nice we drew a corner in the second half and gave ourselves the opportunity to tie it up."
— Indiana head coach Amanda Janney Misselhorn
"We still have a lot of positives going on. Our freshmen are starting to play better and better. I thought Hailey (Couch) played a great game today, she was a big spark for us. Sherridan Weiss was another big spark for us. I also think Elle (Hempt) played fantastic, she made a ton of saves in the backfield. She was all over the place, diving, making plays. She did a really good job of shutting them down in the middle."
