Gaesser’s 68 Propels IU To Third Place After Round One of Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational

Indiana team standing: 3rd place out of 13 teams through 18 holes
Top Indiana individual: Evan Gaesser – 68 (-4; career-best 18-hole score)
Play was suspended for the day at 5:00 p.m. due to lightning. The teams will return to the course to resume round two at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday with continuous play into round three.
TAP-INS
• The Hoosiers are just three shots behind Bowling Green in second place and seven shots behind Southern Illinois in first place.
• Among the five players in the team lineup, the Hoosiers recorded 19 birdies in the first round.
• Gaesser finished round one with seven birdies and three bogeys on his way to a 68 and a tie for 4th. His previous career-best round was a 70 during his freshman year at LaSalle. His previous best round at Indiana was a 73 last year at Irish Creek.
• Sophomore Ethan Shepherd is tied for ninth at 2-under par (70) after one round. He had three birdies, one bogey and 14 pars on his card.
• After a double bogey on his first hole, redshirt senior Jack Sparrow birdied three of the next four holes and finished the round at 1-under par (71) and is tied for 16th.
• Redshirt senior Jake Brown was 3-over through his first six holes, but played the final 12 holes in 2-under par. He is tied for 25th at 1-over par.
• Junior Brock Ochsenreiter was 4-over through his first four holes, but rebounded to play his final 14 holes in 1-under and finish the round at 3-over par and a tie for 48th.
• Competing as individuals in their first collegiate events, freshmen Mitch Davis and Harry Reynolds are both tied for ninth at 2-under par (70) through the first 18 holes. Davis was 4-under through his first 11 holes of the day while Reynolds was 4-under through his first nine holes.
• Sophomore Evan Yakubov, also competing as an individual, recorded three birdies and three bogeys to finish at Even par and a tie for 18th.
• Senior Trevor Ranton is tied for 48th at 3-over par after a couple of double bogeys proved to be his undoing in the first round

• After play was suspended in the middle of round two, the teams will return to the course and resume play at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. They will complete round two and immediately go into round three.
