Hoosiers Find Success at MSU Invite

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Indiana men's tennis team sent William Piekarsky, Payam Ahmadi, Luka Vukovic and Patrick Fletchall to the first annual Spartan Invite Oct. 11-13 at Michigan State.
The format of the tournament featured a combination of doubles and singles with a draw of doubles. Teams started by playing a 6-game set of doubles, followed by a five-minute break and then two singles matches with the same players from the double match. In order to advance in the tournament a doubles team had to win two of the three (doubles match and two singles matches).
The two doubles teams for Indiana were Fletchall/Vukovic and Piekarsky/Ahmadi.
Fletchall/Vukovic went 3-0 in their opening round with a 6-4 doubles win over Keene/Campbell of Michigan State. Following the doubles match, Fletchall defeated Keene 6-3, 7-6 (4) and Vukovic defeated Campbell, 6-3, 7-5.
Ahmadi/Piekarsky won their doubles match, but each lost their singles match.
In the second round Fletchall/Vukovic went 1-3 with Fletchall picking up a singles victory.
In all the tournament consisted of four rounds of doubles and four rounds of singles.
Fletchall and Vukovic each went 3-1 in singles and each of the Hoosiers two doubles tandems finished 2-2 for the tournament.
Up next the Hoosiers will compete in the ITA Regional Championships, Oct. 25-28 in Nashville, Tenn.
