BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's soccer freshman Roman Celentano was honored by the Big Ten Conference when the league announced him as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Celentano captured his first collegiate shutout in a 0-0 draw against No. 16 Kentucky on Oct. 9. He faced three shots on frame and denied them all. His three saves established a new career-high for a single game. Celentano came up big when defending the UK aerial attack off set pieces.
The Naperville, Ill., native recorded a second-straight clean sheet in the 1-0 Indiana victory over Michigan. He registered two saves in the shutout.
Celentano has held the opposition scoreless for the last 235 minutes of play and has won all four of his starts in goal.
The No. 4-ranked Hoosiers will be in action at 6:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 18 at Ludwig Field against the Maryland Terrapins. The game will be televised on BTN.
