Hoosiers Receive Strong Performances at Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday Afternoon

MADISON, Wisc. – Indiana Cross Country wrapped up tough competition at Nuttycombe Invitational. The men's squad finished in the seventh while the women picked up a 15th place finish.
Bailey Hertenstein led the Hoosiers for the fourth straight meet this season. The sophomore clocked a time of 20:17.9 to place 16th overall. Sarah Schmitt crossed the finish line 58th with a time of 20:52.6. Senior Kelsey Harris ran her final regular season cross country meet on Friday where she notched a time of 21:18.3 to place 105th. Running in her first race for the Hoosiers, freshman Abby Green secured 119th with a time of 21:24.2. Grace Walther clocked a time of 21:40.3 to place 152nd overall. Mikaela Ramirez crossed in a time of 21:49.2 and finished 169th. Jenna Barker rounded out the field of Hoosier women with a 175th place finish and a time of 21:53.0.
On the men's side, Kyle Mau ran his last regular season race and continued to lead the Indiana men as he placed 10th with a time of 23:49.6. Ben Veatch followed close behind in 17th and clocked a time of 23:57.1. Sophomore Arjun Jha crossed in a time of 24:25.8 to finish in 69th over all. Bryce Millar, also running his last regular season meet, notched 80th in a time of 24:28.6. Matthew Schadler finished with a time of 24;39.1 to finish in 109th. Rounding out the field for Indiana, Dustin Horter placed 121st in a time of 24:44.4.
Up next a group of Hoosiers will compete at the Under Armour Pre National Invitational on Saturday morning. The men's blue race is set for 11:35a followed by the women's white race at 12:20p. In two weeks, Indiana will start the post season with Big Ten Conference Championships on Nov. 3 in Columbus, Ohio. The men's 8K race will run at 10:45a followed by the women's 6K.
