BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's soccer had six players added to the midseason edition of the Top Drawer Soccer (TDS) Top-100 Freshman list. The publication posted the prestigious list on Friday morning.
Indiana's Aidan Morris was slotted into the top spot of the Top-100 Freshman Watchlist. Herbert Endeley (No. 13), Joshua Penn (No. 20), Daniel Munie (No. 36), Victor Bezerra (No. 45), and Maouloune Goumballe (No. 66) round out the remainder of the IU representation on the list. Indiana's six players were the most of any team on the list, followed by Saint Louis with four players.
1. Aidan Morris, MF, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Morris has provided a spark in the middle of the Indiana attack. He has tallied five points this season with three assists and one goal. His first-career goal came in Indiana's 3-1 victory on the road against Northwestern, while he has secured assists against Penn State (two) and Wisconsin. Morris was named to the TDS Team of the Week and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 8 and earned adidas/IU Credit Union Classic All-Tournament Team laurels to begin the season.
13. Herbert Endeley, F, Blaine, Minn.
Endeley started his collegiate career with a bang, netting a golden goal in the second overtime period against Pittsburgh to open the 2019 season. His second goal of the season came as the equalizer in the second half against No. 16 Notre Dame.
20. Joshua Penn, F, Naperville, Ill.
Penn is tied for the team lead with three goals scored this season. Much like Endeley, his collegiate debut produced his first goal in the Cream and Crimson. He tallied the game-winning goal against Sacramento State and notched his first Big Ten Conference score at Northwestern. Penn was tabbed to the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic All-Tournament Team and the Preseason Freshman Best XI by TDS.
36. Daniel Munie, D, Maryland Heights, Mo.
Munie has been a staple next to sophomore teammate Jack Maher on the backline of the Hoosier defense. He, and the rest of the IU defense, have yielded 0.77 goals per match this season to rank 23rd nationally. Munie has added three points to his stat line with a goal against Wisconsin and an assist against UCLA.
45. Victor Bezerra, F, Chicago
Bezerra has found the back of the net twice in his inaugural season with the Hoosiers. His first collegiate score, a 58th-minute equalizer, came against the UCLA Bruins. Bezerra opened the scoring against Wisconsin with a penalty kick conversion.
66. Maouloune Goumballe, F, Cincinnati, Ohio
Goumballe has been a tremendous asset to the Hoosier offense this season. He is tied for the team lead with seven points (two goals, three assists) this season. His first career goal came against Wisconsin to seal the IU victory. He was involved in all three Hoosier goals at Northwestern with two assists and a goal against the Wildcats. He also served up an assist in the Sacramento State match.
