BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's soccer freshman Aidan Morris was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer team after recording four points against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
The honor is the second of his debut season for the Hoosiers after he was also named to the team on Oct. 8 and comes one day after being named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week.
Morris led Indiana to a critical Big Ten Conference victory over Rutgers. He helped the Hoosiers tally three second-half goals to move Indiana one step closer to claiming a second-straight Big Ten regular season championship.
In the 53rd minute, Morris delivered a perfect ball off a free kick from just inside the midfield stripe that found senior Joris Ahlinvi 12 yards away from goal. Ahlinvi redirected the service into the bottom left corner of goal for the first Hoosier goal of the contest. Morris connected with redshirt sophomore Joe Schmidt on another well-placed through ball that led to IU's second goal. Finally, Morris finished off the game with a goal of his own. He started the Indiana build-up with a pass to redshirt junior Spencer Glass, who curled in a cross to junior Thomas Warr. Warr attempted a redirect from the six-yard box that was saved by Rutgers. The rebound fell to the left foot of Morris and he finished from 10 yards out.
The No. 10-ranked Hoosiers will be in action at 8 p.m. ET on Oct. 29 at Armstrong Stadium against Ohio State. The game will stream on BTN+.
