Hoosiers Take Sixth and 12th place at Joe Piane Invitational On Friday Afternoon

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Indiana Cross Country wrapped their stint at the Joe Piane Invitational on the campus of Notre Dame on Friday afternoon. The men's squad picked up sixth place as a team while the women's squad placed 12th.
In the women's race, Bailey Hertenstein led the Cream & Crimson with a seventh-place finish and clocked a time of 16:26.68. Sarah Schmitt was the next Hoosier to cross the finish as she crossed in a time of 16:59.45. Freshman Mikaela Ramirez picked up 80th place with a time of 17:24.96. Jenna Barker notched 96th and clocked a time of 17:31.69. Four spots later, Kelsey Harris nabbed 100th and had a time of 17:33.26. Grace Walther nabbed a time of 17:42.45 to finish 115th. Rounding the group in the Indiana uniform was Abi Little who ran a time of 17:56.08 and placed 140th overall.
On the men's side Kyle Mau led the Hoosiers as he placed fourth with a time of 23:23.34. Ben Veatch remained poised and finished in 11th in a time of 23:33.68. Arjun Jha continued to prove his strength as he crossed the finish line in a time of 24:07.73. Bryce Millar was the next Hoosiers across the line, he placed 67th to notch a time of 24:21.61. Dustin Horter finished shortly after in 74th with a time of 24:27.46. Jake Gebhardt continued his redshirt freshman campaign with a 108th place finish and a time of 24:51.02. Ben Miller clocked a time of 25:02.55 to place 123rd. Hunter Moore was the next Indiana runner to cross the finish line. Moore rounded out the field for Indiana and clocked a time of 25:13.02 and placed 129th.
Up next, the Hoosiers will split up to compete at the Nuttycombe Invitational and Pre-Nationals. Nuttycombe is set for Oct. 18 while Pre-National will be ran on Oct. 19.
