BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The Indiana volleyball team lost a 3-0 (20-25, 13-25, 19-25) battle against No. 18 Illinois on Friday at Wilkinson Hall.

Key Moments

In the first set against Illinois, the Hoosiers responded to a 6-2 deficit with their own 6-3 run to close the gap to 9-8. IU would later use a 7-3 run with Illinois up 21-13 to get the score to 24-20, winning three straight set points in the process. Illinois went on to win 25-20.
The Hoosiers stayed competitive in the second set trailing Illinois 5-4, but Illinois used a 10-1 run to push their lead to 15-5. After IU's 3-0 run made it 15-8, Illinois went on to win the set 25-13.
Illinois got out to a 4-0 lead before IU responded with a 3-0 run and eventually tied the score 5-5. Illinois used a 7-2 run to get out to a 12-7 lead, but IU would use a 5-1 run of their own to bring the score to 13-11. Illinois would go on to win the set 25-19.

Notables

The Hoosiers fell to 11-5 overall and 0-3 in Big Ten play. Illinois improved to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in Big Ten play.
Freshman Emily Fitzner provided 24 assists for the Hoosiers and junior Bayli Lebo recorded 10 digs.
Sophomore Breana Edwards led Indiana with eight kills on the night while also contributing two digs and one block.
Illinois finished the match with 43 kills and 12 attacking errors while hitting .344 on the night.
