BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's soccer freshman Aidan Morris was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer team of the week after compiling four total points in road victories at Northwestern and Penn State.
Morris kicked off the week with his first collegiate goal in a 3-1 Hoosier win against the Wildcats. His tally came in the 66th minute of the contest on a one-timer from eight-yards away from goal.
His encore performance against Penn State produced a pair of assists. His first assist of the match came in the 16th minute off a free kick. He delivered a tremendous cross into the box that found junior A.J. Palazzolo, who beat the keeper with a sharp header. Eight minutes later, Morris added another assist off a set piece, this time he found junior Spencer Glass. Glass finished the goal with a strike from 16-yards out.
Fellow classmate Maouloune Goumballe was named an honorable mention for the team. He recorded two assists and one goal against the Wildcats to open the week. His goal opened the scoring in Evanston, Ill., as he found the back of the net from three-yards out. Goumballe would later connect with freshman Joshua Penn and Morris on assists to secure the Big Ten victory for the Cream and Crimson.
The No. 8-ranked Hoosiers will be in action at 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 9 at Armstrong Stadium against No. 19-ranked Kentucky. The game will be televised on FS1.
