Indiana Men and Women Earn At-Large Bids to NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- For the second season in a row the Indiana Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams earned at-large bids to NCAA Championships.
This is the third year in row that the women have earned a spot in the meet which ties the program record for most consecutive appearance. This also the second year in a row where the men have been selected for the Championships as a team.
18 teams earned automatic bids into the NCAA Championship by winning their region or placing second. During the selection show on Saturday, 13 teams were deemed al-large selections.
On Friday, both squads were in action at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. Ben Veatch advanced individually with a fourth-place finish as the men's team finished in fourth overall. In the women's race, Bailey Hertenstein led the Hoosier women with a sixth-place finish. As a team, the women placed sixth.
The Championship meet will be held in Terre Haute, Ind. at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country course on the campus of Indiana State. The women's 6k will kick off the meet 11:15 a.m. before the men's race at 12:15 p.m.
