BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– Indiana men's tennis head coach Jeremy Wurtzman has announced the addition of three for the Hoosiers 2020 class.
Jagger Saylor (Westfield, Ind.), Ilya Tiraspolsky (Toronto, Canada) and Michael Andre (Las Vegas, Nev.) will join the Hoosiers next fall.
Jagger Saylor comes to IU from Westfield, Ind. He is currently the #3 ranked player in Indiana and the #90 recruit in the country according to tennisrecruiting.net. What the numbers don't show is that Jagger has has been on a steady climb up the ranking sheet over the last two years.
"We always look to recruit the best that the state of Indiana has and Jagger has proven to be one of the best in his class," Wurtzman said." His results in tournament play have significantly improved over the past year and it will be great to see how far he can climb at IU."
Ilya Tiraspolsky continues the tradition of strong Canadian tennis talent to make its' way to Bloomington. Ilya is currently ranked #292 in the International Tennis Federation rankings and most recently won the boys 18 and under Canadian national doubles championship. He was also the finalist in singles.
"We feel that Canadian tennis is on the rise and Ilya is among the best in his age group," Wurtzman said. "He has a big game that will translate very well to indoor tennis and against opponents in the BIG Ten Conference. He also brings a ton of experience to the doubles court as he has won multiple national championships."
The last signee is Michael Andre from Las Vegas, Nev. Michael is a 5 Star recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net. Michael most recently made it to the round of 32 at Kalamazoo behind some impressive play and also won the Intermountain Closed Championships.
"Michael is a big athletic lefty that was recruited by the best teams in the country," Wurtzman said. "We feel that his game has a ton of potential to become one of the best in college tennis and will be great to see him grow at Indiana."
