
Samy, Steele Headline Day Two in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 4 Indiana men's swimming team overtook No. 12 Georgia for the overall team lead, while the No. 16 women's team fell to fourth place at Tennessee Invitational at the Jones Aquatic Center after posting a season-best 26 NCAA B Cut times on Friday evening.
Both diving teams opened the 2019 House of Champions event in Indianapolis, hosted by IUPUI. Both groups tackled the platform dive for the first time this season. Junior Mory Gould claimed fourth place with an NCAA Zone Qualifying score of 307.80 to lead all Hoosiers.

• Senior Mohamed Samy continues his early-season dominance in the pool. His winning time of 1:33.65 in the 200 freestyle established the new NCAA-leading mark this season and lower the previous mark (1:34.08) by nearly a half of a second.
• Freshman Emily Weiss became the first Hoosier this season to break the one-minute mark in the 100 breaststroke as she claimed third in the event with a time of 59.00. Weiss is now the third-best performer all-time in program history in the event.
• Indiana walked away from day two of the Tennessee Invitational with a season-best 26 individual times that qualified as NCAA B Cut standards. IU also produced two relay teams with B Cut times.
• Gould has now hit the NCAA Zone Qualifying mark in all three diving techniques after securing a qualifying score in the platform in Indianapolis this afternoon.
