Hoosiers place 13th and 19th at NCAA Championships; Hertenstein and Mau Earn All-America Honors s

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – On a rainy and cold day at the LeVern Gibson Championships Cross Country Course, Indiana Cross Country picked up two top-20 finishes as the men's team finished in 13th and the women came in 19th. Bailey Hertenstein and Kyle Mau led the Hoosiers with All-America Honors.
No. 1 ranked Arkansas took home the team crown in the women's field with 96 points and New Mexico's Weini Kelati was crowned the individual champion. On the men's side, BYU captured the team title with 367 points while Edwin Kurgot of Iowa State raced their way to the individual national championship.
For the Hoosiers, Mau led the men with a 12th place finish in a time of 31:00.0. Ben Veatch crossed next for the Hoosiers as he captured 61st with a time of 31:35.9. Arjun Jha was tabbed for 91st and crossed in a time of 31:56.2. Matthew Schadler had a strong finish as he placed 128th to take a time of 32:11.2. Bryce Millar saw a time of 32:19.1 to finish in 148th overall. Dustin Hoter finished in 163rd with a time of 32:29.0 while Reese Jordan rounded out the field in 219th with a time of 33:34.7.
Hertenstein raced to a 31st place finish in a time of 20:40.1 to led Indiana in the women's race. Sarah Schmitt picked up 58th and ran a time of 21:00.3. Jenna Barker crossed the line 180th to pick up a time of 21:53.0. Going back-to-back, Abby Green and Abi Little placed 187th and 188th, respectively. Green clocked a time of 21:56.7 while Little nabbed a time of 21:57.1. Kelsey Harris ran her final cross country race where she placed 196th in a time of 22:04.0.Rounding out the field was Mikaela Ramirez who took 219th and clocked a time of 22:17.7.
With the conclusion of the 2019 season, the Hoosiers will move inside for the 2019-20 indoor track & field season. The season kicks off at home with the Hoosier Open on Friday, Dec. 13.
