"I thought Brenna was terrific from outside the arch tonight and Ali Patberg did a great job running her team. They had a lot of help and I thought there were pieces that stepped up throughout the course of the game and made big plays. I thought defensively, our toughness showed tonight and just how difficulty it was to keep a great team like that off the boards. We fought for 40 minutes and we knew we were going to have to do that so I'm just proud of our effort and really happy for our team tonight."

KEY MOMENTS
- In a battle from the start, each team shot at least 55 percent from the field as Indiana got a hot start from senior forward Brenna Wise who hit two 3-pointers and five points early from sophomore guard Grace Berger.
- IU would go up by as many as four, 19-15, with 2:21 to play but the Gamecocks (6-1) chipped away to regain the lead on a 7-0 run. A little floater by Penn put IU within one at the end of the frame, 22-21.
- Freshman forward Mackenzie Holmes came off the bench to open up the scoring in the second quarter to quickly take the lead back. It put Indiana in the driver's seat for the remainder of the half as eight of Patberg's points came inside the second quarter including a 3-pointer with 2:05 to play on a feed from Wise.
- The Hoosiers would outscore South Carolina, 17-9 in the second and go up seven at the break, 38-31. But the momentum would shift to USC's favor in the third as IU's offense went stagnant and just hit 16.7 percent from the field and found themselves down four heading into the final quarter.
- Sophomore forward Aleksa Gulbe and freshman forward Jorie Allen would make it 53-51 with 7:25 to play. After a good bucket from Zia Cooke to regain the lead for the Gamecocks, Indiana regained the lead with a Berger layup and Gulbe basket, up 59-54 with just under five minutes to play.
- Gulbe's crash on the offensive glass drew a foul as she hit one in the bonus while her rebound on the other end set up Wise for her fourth 3-pointer of the night making it 63-56 with 3:22 remaining.
- The Gamecocks would go without a field goal in the final 4:18 of the game as Indiana would close it out with exclamation points from Patberg to seal it.
