Postgame Notes
- The Hoosiers beat the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in their first ever meeting, 64-50 and improved to 7-0 for the first time since the 2012-13 season when the Hoosiers started 9-0.
- Indiana completes an undefeated month for the second time in two seasons (6-0, Dec. 2018).
- This was the fourth and final game of the Indiana Challenge. Indiana finished 4-0.
- Freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis was named MVP of the Challenge averaging 17.0 points and 11.8 rebounds in the four-game series. He finished today's game with his fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
- Indiana took the lead, 4-2, on a Jackson-Davis layup at the 16:51 point of the first half and never trailed again.
- A 6-0 run by the Hoosiers and a 26-18 lead capped off by a junior forward Justin Smith dunk triggered a Jackrabbit timeout at the 5:36 mark in the first half. The Hoosiers followed defensively by forcing a shot clock violation.
- The Hoosier defense forced 11 first-half turnovers, which helped lead to 11 fast-break points. Indiana forced a total of 17 turnovers and have forced double-digit turnovers in all seven games to begin the season.
- Indiana finished the first half on a 17-8 run and led South Dakota State at halftime, 37-26.
- Indiana took its largest lead of the game at 16 at the 11:00 mark of the second half on a Jackson-Davis layup.
- Indiana held the Jackrabbits to 18-of-48 (37.5 percent) shooting, which marks the fourth time this season the Hoosiers have held an opponent under 40.0 percent from the floor.
- Three Hoosiers scored in double figures on Saturday, Jackson-Davis (19), Smith (18) and senior guard Devonte Green (11).
- Jackson-Davis scored a team-high 19 points while tying career-highs of 14 rebounds and four blocks in 27 minutes.
- Nine of Jackson-Davis' 14 rebounds were on the offensive side, which is the most offensive rebounds by an IU player since Freddie McSwain Jr. grabbed nine against Michigan State on Feb. 3, 2018.
- Smith scored 18 points for IU and grabbed eight rebounds in 29 minutes.
- Green made a game-high three 3-point baskets to help with his 11 points and he also grabbed two rebounds and dished out three assists.
- Junior guard Aljami Durham tallied five points for the Hoosiers and grabbed three rebounds while recording a team-high two steals in 29 minutes.
- Freshman guard Armaan Franklin had a 3-pointer and added three rebounds and a team-high four assists.
- Redshirt junior forward Joey Brunk had one free throw and grabbed four rebounds for Indiana.
- Senior forward De'Ron Davis scored two points and grabbed two rebounds in seven minutes.
- Redshirt freshman forward Jerome Hunter grabbed two rebounds for the Hoosiers in 13 minutes.
- Sophomore forward Damezi Anderson scored five points and grabbed three rebounds and dished out two assists in 15 minutes of action.
- Anderson's 3-point basket with 12:26 remaining in the first half gave him 34 points on the season, which is a career-best for him in a Hoosier uniform.
- Redshirt sophomore forward Race Thompson grabbed three rebounds in nine minutes of playing time.
- The Hoosiers will next play in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 against Florida State.
